The Pixies Human Crime

The Pixies has been one of my favorite bands of all time! I was honored and excited to be offered the chance to shoot a music video for them. Paz Lenchantin, the bassist for the Pixies directed the music video and wanted to tell an abstract version of the story of her joining the band. The story involved an indoor nighttime bar scene and an outdoor daylight scene. I knew I needed to find a way to tie the looks together. For the outdoor scene there would be a lot of camera movement, so I decided to shoot it on the Digital Bolex primarily on a vintage Cooke 17.5mm lens. For the indoor scene I wanted to match some of the character I got with the vintage Cooke, so I created my own 4x5 filter using a clear filter and black and gold spray paint.
