Directing a Lyric Video

It seems lyric videos are becoming as popular as traditional music videos these days. When Warner Music came to me to create a lyric video for a new track in which David Guetta and SIA teamed up I was extremely excited, as a fan of both of them. The challenge was to create a dynamic video that told the story of a new day dawning while keeping the focus solidly on the lyrics. I decided that the best way to do that was to create movement through the camera and reflection on the words. I created long elaborate paths in 3D using AfterEffects, and used animated trees from 3DS MAX. The video got over 20 million views in the first few weeks, and was a big success.
