Egg Drop Soup PMS
LA feminist grunge punk band Egg Drop Soup needed a music video that was both grungy and elegant at the same time. Their track PMS is about growing up as a woman in Los Angeles. I wanted to mix the stark look of B&W often used in grunge videos with the bright almost Crayola colors of blooming sun flowers. I used jump cuts, stuttered time-lapse, and film grain texture to give a vintage feel to the video, recalling old scratched up Super 8 films. At the end we wanted to reference the 1976 film Carrie. Hopefully the overall feeling is one of both tension and beauty centered around a woman’s first period.
